On May 1, 2019 the US Embassy in Israel started accepting E-2 investor visa applications filed by Israeli citizens. This announcement has been awaited since President Obama signed a bilateral investment treaty with Israel in 2012. A commemorative ceremony will be held on May 6, 2019.
The E-2 treaty investor visa USA is a nonimmigrant visa allowing foreign entrepreneurs and investors to start a business in the US. As of May 1, 2019, Israeli citizens may apply for an E-2 entrepreneur visa USA in order to live and work in the US while directing and developing their business. To qualify for an E-2 investor visa the Israeli citizen investor must own at least 50 percent of the US enterprise and must risk a substantial amount of his own capital. The US enterprise must also have the ability to generate more income than that which is necessary for the E-2 investor’s living expenses.
